Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor Type K – 3mm INCONEL

This industrial Type K sheathed thermocouple sensor is specifically designed for high-precision exhaust gas temperature measurement in systems subjected to high thermal and mechanical stress. By using a nickel-chromium-nickel alloy and an INCONEL sheath, the component ensures excellent oxidation resistance and mechanical strength at operating temperatures up to 1200°C.

Unlike sensors with silicone-sheathed cables (thermal limit at 200°C), this version features 3-meter-long glass-silk insulation designed for continuous operation at ambient temperatures of up to 400°C in areas close to the engine. The 3 mm diameter provides the optimal balance between a short thermal response time (response behavior) and high structural stability against high-frequency vibrations and pulsating pressure changes in the exhaust manifold.

Design and safety instructions:

• Installation depth: The maximum insertion depth of the sensor into the exhaust stream is 10 mm, to minimize flow resistance and leverage effects during vibrations.

• Signal extension: The connection cable may only be extended using specified thermocouple connectors (Type K) to prevent measurement errors caused by thermoelectric interference.

• Installation: Installation requires qualified technical personnel (to ensure correct torque values are applied to the compression fitting).

• Applications with high exhaust manifold ambient temperatures: Specifically designed for engine compartments and performance modifications where radiant heat in the area of the exhaust manifold exceeds the thermal resistance of standard silicone cables.

• Extended installation options: The generous cable length of 3 meters allows for direct, uninterrupted routing from the engine compartment to display instruments in the A-pillar or center console.

• Compatible measurement systems: As an OEM replacement part or upgrade for all common EGT display units and data loggers with a Type K input and 3mm cut-ring or compression fittings.
