Description:
The intercooler is installed between the turbocharger and the intake manifold. The aim of an intercooler is to ensure that the air heated by the turbocharger is cooled down. By cooling down the compressed air, more air mass enters the combustion chamber for the same volume, and more fuel can be burned; this increases power output and efficiency. The lower the charge air, the lower the thermal load on the engine and the turbocharger, because it requires less speed for the same air mass. Fuel consumption is also reduced, and the engine achieves slightly better exhaust values, provided the control unit is adapted accordingly. Care should be taken to ensure that the intercooler gets as much airflow as possible. The coolers can be used for turbocharged diesel and petrol engines. When selecting, care should be taken that the intercooler is not too large for the engine, as this impairs response, nor should it be too small. The intercooler offered here is made entirely of aluminum with cast boxes, has five mounting points with M8 threads, and a bar'n plate mesh—ideal for motorsport and tuning. Each intercooler is tested to 5 bar before delivery.
