Information on basic tuning / ECU submission

Our ECU tune via ECU submission is a so-called base application. This software is primarily intended to safely operate the vehicle with the installed hardware modifications, so that it can be driven under its own power to a dynamometer or tuner.

At our partner company CCT Motorsport GmbH, the price of the base application can be offset against a tune on the dynamometer. Please feel free to contact us about this!

The software is individually configured based on your vehicle and modification specifications. This includes, among other things, information on installed components such as the mass airflow sensor, fuel injectors, turbocharger, intercooler, or other performance-enhancing parts.

Before placing your order, please send us an email to info@turbo-parts.dewith the installed modifications as well as the ECU number. We will then check whether a suitable software solution is available for your setup.

The customized software is then programmed onto your submitted engine control unit and returned to you via DHL upon completion.


Process of ECU tuning

  • You send us your engine control unit
  • After receipt, the processing time is usually approx. 2 business days
  • Return shipping is then carried out via DHL
  • Shipping usually takes 1–3 business days

Please be sure to include a list of the installed parts with the engine control unit or send it to us in advance by email.


Note on basic tuning

Since we cannot technically inspect the vehicle in advance or measure it on a dynamometer, the software is based on our extensive experience and dynamometer knowledge from comparable vehicle setups.

We rely on numerous proven and reliably functioning mappings that have been specifically tuned for similar combinations of turbocharger, fuel injectors, mass airflow sensor, and other hardware.

The supplied base application serves to ensure that the vehicle can be operated reliably with the modifications made.

IMPORTANT:
This software is expressly not intended for permanent full-throttle driving, racetrack use, or extreme loads.

For maximum performance, perfect drivability, and the highest operational reliability, we generally recommend individual tuning on a dynamometer. Only there can the software be adapted exactly to the actual condition and mechanical circumstances of the engine.

For safety reasons, our base tunes deliberately run slightly richer than the stock tune. This prevents the engine from running too lean under load and thereby causing damage.


Notes in case of problems after installation

Should problems arise after installing the modified engine control unit, we are of course available by phone to work with you to find a solution.

Please note, however:

  • Remote fault diagnosis is not always fully possible
  • In certain cases, the vehicle must be inspected directly on site
  • The technical inspection and any necessary rework are carried out in cooperation with a dynamometer partner in the Bremen area
  • There, the vehicle, hardware, and software can be professionally analyzed and tuned

ATTENTION:
As part of statutory rectification attempts, we expressly refer to the technical inspection on the dynamometer at CCT Motorsport GmbH. Only there can modifications be professionally checked and necessary adjustments be carried out reliably.

Anyone who exceeds a certain power level on the 1.8T engine will quickly reach the limits of physics with the original sensors and valves. To avoid incorrect measurements and power loss, we recommend these two essential upgrades to our customers:

  • 1) 80mm mass airflow sensor upgrade (item 280128) From an output of approx. 230+ hp, the original MAF housing reaches saturation. The result: The engine control unit receives incorrect readings and can no longer calculate the mixture properly. The enlarged 80mm housing ensures optimal flow and precise values even at high boost pressure.

  • 2) Performance pulse valve / control valve N75 (item 160200) The original OEM boost control valve is often too weak for higher boost pressures. It tends to regulate imprecisely, which leads to drops in boost pressure and noticeable power loss. Our performance valve operates extremely quickly and stably – the perfect choice for your electronic boost controller and consistent boost pressure build-up.
