With this high-quality 13-row oil cooler kit for VW VR6 engines you get a high-performance yet temperature-controlled solution for additional engine oil cooling. The integrated thermostat in the oil filter adapter ensures that the external oil cooler is only incorporated into the cooling circuit once the specified oil temperature is reached.
As a result, the engine oil reaches operating temperature more quickly during the warm-up phase. As the oil temperature rises, the thermostat opens and directs the oil through the external 13-row oil cooler. Depending on the vehicle, outside temperature, driving style, and engine load, the oil temperature can typically be approx. 10–30 °C reduced under high load.
The oil filter adapter features an integrated thermostat, that regulates the oil flow based on temperature. As a result, oil flows actively through the external oil cooler only when additional cooling capacity is needed.
The 13-row oil cooler features D08 connections with 3/4-16 UNF threads. The included steel-braided hoses provide a secure and flexible connection between the oil filter adapter and the oil cooler.
The included extension bolt for VR6 engines is precision-machined using CNC technology and made of high-quality stainless steel.
The 13-row oil cooler kit with thermostat is designed for VW VR6 engines manufactured through 1997.
Important Note: For VW VR6 models manufactured in 1996 or later the corresponding bolt-on metal cover from VW must also be used or purchased.
For VR6 turbo engines, performance-tuned VR6 engines, and vehicles driven in a sporty manner can the oil temperature rise significantly under heavy loads. The additional 13-row oil cooler provides valuable cooling capacity, while the integrated thermostat simultaneously ensures a controlled oil temperature.
Unlike an oil cooler without a thermostat the external cooler is not continuously flushed with fluid during the warm-up phase. This ensures effective temperature management and makes the kit particularly appealing for vehicles used for both daily commuting and spirited driving.
