Steel-braided hoses: Braking performance and safety for your vehicle

Do you want to noticeably improve the braking performance of your car or motorcycle? Then steel-braided hoses (also known as steel-braided brake lines) are the perfect upgrade. Unlike conventional rubber hoses, steel-braided lines offer a significantly more direct braking feel, maximum durability, and added safety on the road as well as on the racetrack.

Why switch to steel-braided hoses? The advantages at a glance

Conventional rubber brake lines become porous over the years, absorb water, and expand significantly under high pressure – such as during an emergency stop. The result is a spongy feel in the brake pedal and an extended stopping distance.

Steel-braided hoses solve this problem thanks to their intelligent layered construction: An inner hose made of high-quality PTFE (Teflon) is encased in a robust fabric of stainless steel wire.

  • Consistent bite point: Since the stainless steel braiding does not expand even under extreme pressure and the highest temperatures, the pressure point on the brake lever or pedal remains precise and crisp at all times.

  • Shorter stopping distance: Braking force is transmitted directly to the brake calipers without delay. This can save valuable meters in an emergency.

  • Protection against marten damage: The dense stainless steel braiding provides reliable protection against bites from martens or other rodents.

  • Virtually unlimited service life: While rubber hoses need to be replaced every few years, steel-braided brake lines are resistant to aging, weathering, and UV radiation.

Ultimate durability in racing: No more soft brake pedal

Anyone who drives their vehicle in a sporty manner, takes part in track days or pushes it to the limit on the racetrack knows the problem: after just a few laps, confidence in the brakes starts to fade. The thermal load in hard racing is extreme – brake discs and pads glow, and the enormous heat is transferred directly to the brake fluid and the brake lines.

This is where original rubber lines immediately reach their limits:

  • The dangerous "dough effect": The extreme heat causes the rubber of the standard hoses to become soft and extremely stretchable. If you now hit the brakes hard before a corner, part of the hydraulic pressure is lost because the rubber hoses inflate like a balloon.

  • The pedal sinks: The brake pedal feels spongy and soft, and pedal travel gets longer and longer (so-called vapor lock or brake fade). In the worst case, the pedal can be pressed almost without noticeable resistance all the way to the floor.

Solution for the racetrack: Steel-braided hoses Our high-performance steel-braided hoses guarantee absolute durability when things get hot. The high-strength stainless steel braiding effortlessly withstands the enormous pressure and temperatures of well over 200 °C. It forces the brake fluid exactly where it needs to go: directly onto the brake piston. Even after the tenth hard braking zone from high speed, the brake pedal remains absolutely firm, linear and predictable. You maintain maximum control and can brake into corners with extreme precision.
