80mm Air Flow Sensor Upgrade for 1.8T Engines – Ideal for K04 & Garrett conversions

Maximum air mass for maximum performance: Our 1.8T Air Flow Meter (AFM) upgrade is the essential component for any serious performance upgrade. Anyone converting their 1.8T engine to a larger turbocharger will quickly reach the measurement limits of the stock LMM housing. This upgrade housing features an enlarged connection diameter of 80 mm and is therefore capable of precisely measuring and processing a significantly higher air mass.

This upgrade is the perfect foundation for extreme performance gains, such as those achieved when converting from a 1.8T to K04-001 or in high-performance setups with Garrett GT30 turbochargers required. The control unit receives precise values for optimal fuel injection even at high boost pressure.


Important: Select the correct connector for your setup

To make installation as simple as possible, we offer the upgraded air flow sensor suitable for both electronic generations of the 1.8T. When placing your order, please select the connector shape required for your vehicle:

Option 1: Oval connector (D-shape) – For newer 1.8T engines with ME7 electronics

This version is suitable for more modern engines with electronic throttle technology and Bosch ME7 engine management.

  • Most important engine codes (MKB): AUM, AUQ, BAM, AMK, ARX, AWT, AVJ, BFB, BVP, APP, ARY, BVR, BEX, BFV
  • Typical vehicles: VW Golf 4 GTI (late models), Audi A3/S3 (8L), Audi TT (8N), Audi A4 (B6), Seat Leon Cupra R (1M), Skoda Octavia I RS

Option 2: Square connector – For older 1.8T engines with Motronic M3.xx electronics

This version is suitable for the early generation of 1.8T engines with a classic mechanical throttle cable.

  • Most important engine codes (MKB): AGU (large ports), AEB (longitudinal engine), AQA, ARZ, APU, ANB, APH, AJQ (early models)
  • Typical vehicles: VW Golf 4 GTI (early models from 1997), Audi A3 (8L, 1996–1999), Audi A4 (B5, 1995–1999), VW Passat (3B)

Technical note for tuners: Since the larger housing diameter of 80 mm changes the flow behavior and signal voltage of the sensor, the engine control unit must be matched (programmed) to the new air flow sensor.
