All-aluminum upgrade intercooler for VAG 1.8T & 1.9 TDI (Plug & Play) with MAP sensor

    Scope of delivery:

    • 1x upgraded side-mounted intercooler (SMIC) constructed from high-quality solid aluminum

    Technical specifications & product highlights:

    • Core dimensions: Width 175 mm x Height 197 mm x Depth 110 mm – massive XXL core volume compared to the stock intercooler

    • Connection diameter: 60 mm (optimal flow rate for reduced flow losses)

    • Core type: High-performance Bar & Plate construction (extremely robust, ideal for motorsport and performance-enhanced setups)

    • Sensor connection: Integrated connection for the original MAP sensor (boost pressure sensor)

    • Quality guarantee: Every single intercooler (IC) is pressure-tested to 5 bar before delivery and tested for leaks to ensure absolute reliability.

Description and tuning advantages: This highly efficient upgrade intercooler is mounted in the original position in the wheel housing between the turbocharger and the intake manifold. Thanks to the precise manufacturing, installation is a direct replacement – the old, restrictive plastic intercooler goes out, the new all-aluminum intercooler goes in.

The primary goal of this upgrade is the drastic reduction of intake air temperature (IAT). Thanks to the highly efficient cast aluminum tanks and the deeper bar-and-plate core, the air compressed by the turbocharger is massively cooled down. Since cold air has a significantly higher density, noticeably more air mass enters the combustion chamber at the same volume. The result:

    • Noticeable power increase: Higher combustion efficiency provides more horsepower and torque, especially in summer ambient temperatures.

    • Thermal relief: Cooler engine operation protects pistons, valves, and the turbocharger from dangerous knocking and extreme exhaust gas temperatures (EGT).

    • Better response: The core volume was dimensioned to maximize cooling performance without creating annoying “turbo lag.” The turbo responds with its usual sharpness.

To fully exploit the cooler’s potential, the airflow routing in the bumper should be modified so that the core can receive maximum oncoming airflow.

For vehicles with VAG 1.8T & 1.9 TDI engines – Only models WITH MAP sensor:

    • Audi A3 (8L): * 1.8T (150–180 hp): AUM, AUQ, ARX, ARY, APP

      • 1.9 TDI (90–115 hp): ALH, AGR, ATD, ASZ (Important: Not compatible with engine code AXR!)

    • Audi TT (8N): * 1.8T (150–180 hp): AUM, AUQ, ARY, APP (Note: Modification work on the vehicle required - body/frame must be cut)

    • Seat Leon / Toledo (1M1): * 1.8T (180 hp): ARY, APP, AUQ

      • 1.9 TDI (90–150 hp): AGR, ALH, AHF, ASV, ASZ, ARL

    • VW Golf 4 / Bora (1J): * 1.8T (150–180 hp): AUM, AUQ, AWP, AWU, AWV

      • 1.9 TDI (90–150 hp): AGR, ALH, AHF, ASV, ATD, ASZ, ARL (Important: Not compatible with engine code AXR!)
