The Borgwarner KKK K04-064 53049880064 is a high-performance upgrade turbocharger for the VW Golf 6 GTI with a stock IHI turbocharger. The OEM BorgWarner K04-064 is modified for use on the Golf 6 GTI and, when paired with the appropriate ECU tune, delivers approx. 300 hp+.
Compared to the stock IHI turbocharger, the K04-064 offers significantly higher airflow capacity, making it ideal for a reliable performance upgrade of the 2.0 TFSI/TSI. For optimal performance, compatible engine software is recommended, as well as—depending on the vehicle and performance goals—additional components such as an intercooler and exhaust system.
The K04-064 was not originally designed as a 1:1 replacement for the IHI turbocharger installed in the Golf 6 GTI. For this conversion, the compressor housing is modified accordingly, so that the turbocharger can be integrated with the vehicle’s existing systems.
When using this kit, the boost air bypass valve (SUV) must be rerouted accordingly.
For vehicles with a sound amplifier, the designated pressure pipe must be used. Additionally, the intake pipe between the air filter and the turbocharger must have a 25 mm outlet for the boost air bypass valve, or one must be fabricated accordingly.
With software tuned to the turbocharger, the K04-064 achieves in the specified vehicles approx. 300 hp+.
The actual achievable power output depends, among other things, on the software tuning, the intake system used, the intercooler, the exhaust system, and the condition of the engine.
