Tuning for Audi A3 8L 1.8T + Quattro, 1.9 TDI + Quattro and 3.2L Quattro

We offer a wide range of tuning parts for the Audi A3 8L 1.8T + Quattro, 1.9 TDI + Quattro and 3.2L Quattro. Most parts are plug-and-play, meaning the original part is removed and the aftermarket part is reinstalled without modification or with only minimal adjustments. This saves a great deal of work, money and time.

Turbocharger

The heart of the 1.8T, alongside the engine, is the turbocharger. We offer various upgrade turbochargers such as the K04-001 with a larger compressor wheel, turbine wheel and reinforced turbo actuator, because weaker turbo actuators can no longer maintain boost pressure above a certain level and begin to flutter, therefore stronger turbo actuators are required. As a rule of thumb, from an opening pressure of 0.5 bar, the actuator can maintain a holding pressure of approx. 1.3 bar, after which it begins to flutter. This allows for a maximum of 300 hp. Visually, the turbocharger differs hardly at all from the original. We carry OEM Borgwarner as well as our own brand “Turbo-parts.de” which we have been successfully selling for over 13 years. These are all precision-balanced and have a long service life. To ensure the turbocharger receives sufficient exhaust gas, a correspondingly large exhaust manifold is required. Here, we also offer upgrade manifolds with a larger pipe cross-section that can simply be swapped out for the original manifold. For conversions using universal turbochargers such as GT28 turbo or GT30 etc., an exhaust manifold with the appropriate T25 or T3 flange is required, and we also carry these in our product range. If the exhaust housing for your OEM turbo or upgrade turbo is cracked/defective, you can also purchase it from us.

Simply installing the turbocharger isn’t enough. Of course, the surrounding components must also be replaced to ensure optimal performance from the engine.

Exhaust Technology

To minimize exhaust backpressure, downpipes with a larger pipe diameter, e.g. 76 mm, are required so that the turbo is relieved and less exhaust backpressure is generated. We also offer these with TÜV and with 200-cell or 100-cell sport catalytic converters.

To achieve a rich sound and ensure sufficient exhaust gases can escape, we offer various sports exhaust systems usually from Simons in Sweden with EC approval, i.e. these do not need to be registered and can be used legally on public roads.

Intake

With upgrade turbochargers or performance-enhanced engines, the original boost hoses tend to constrict, leading to power loss. We offer fiber-reinforced silicone hoses such as intake hoses or boost hoses that can withstand the performance. To achieve greater airflow, sport air filters as well as larger intake manifolds ensure optimal breathing. Bypass valves also called pop-off or SUV are indispensable for the 1.8T, and they must also remain closed there, otherwise the mass airflow sensor lacks the air vented into the atmosphere during calculation. For this reason, open valves are not suitable for the 1.8T with the original fuel injection system.

Powertrain

To transfer power to the road, sport clutches are essential. We have complete kits with a single-mass flywheel, pressure plate, friction disc with organic lining and release bearing that are also street-legal; sprung sintered metal discs are also suitable for the street, only unsprung ones are more recommended for motorsport.

Cooling

To get cool air into the engine, a larger intercooler kit or an upgrade intercooler is required, because cooler air is denser and contains more air mass, which in turn leads to more power. This is particularly noticeable in summer or during longer highway drives. For conversions with replacement turbochargers, different oil and water lines are also required. For water cooling, we offer all-aluminum water coolers that are more durable than the original ones with plastic tanks.

Engine Technology

To ensure the engine can withstand certain performance levels, forged pistons are installed. We’ve had good experiences with JE-Pistons and Wiseco.
