Description:
The upgrade intercooler is installed at the front, between the turbocharger and the intake manifold. It simply replaces the original unit on a 1:1 basis. The purpose of an intercooler is to cool down the air heated by the turbocharger. By cooling the compressed air, more air mass enters the combustion chamber at the same volume, allowing more fuel to be burned; this increases power and efficiency. The cooler the charge air, the lower the thermal load on the engine and the turbocharger, since the turbocharger requires lower RPM to maintain the same air mass. Fuel consumption is also reduced, and the engine achieves slightly better emissions, provided the control module is adjusted accordingly. Care should be taken to ensure that the intercooler receives as much airflow as possible. These intercoolers can be used with turbocharged diesel and gasoline engines. When selecting one, make sure the intercooler isn’t too large for the engine, as this will impair throttle response; nor should it be too small. The intercooler offered here is made entirely of aluminum with cast housings, features five mounting points with M8 threads, and includes a Bar’n Plate mesh—ideal for motorsports and tuning. Each intercooler is tested up to 5 bar before shipment.
