The aim of an intercooler is to cool down the air heated by the turbocharger. By cooling the compressed air, more air mass enters the combustion chamber at the same volume and more fuel can be burned, which increases performance and efficiency. The lower the charge air, the lower the thermal load on the engine, the turbocharger, because it requires less speed at the same air mass. Fuel consumption is also reduced and the engine achieves slightly better exhaust values, provided the control unit is adapted accordingly. For intercoolers with water cooling, it is important that the largest possible water cooler with pump is installed. The coolers can be used on turbocharged diesel and gasoline engines. When selecting the intercooler, care should be taken to ensure that it is not too large for the engine, as this would impair the response, nor should it be too small. The water-cooled intercooler offered here is made entirely of aluminum with cast tanks and has a bar'n plate core, ideal for motorsport and tuning. Each intercooler is tested to 5 bar before delivery.
