VR6 Oil Cooler Kit: Lubricant cooling to prevent thermal overload

An external oil cooler is essential for controlling oil temperature and maintaining the viscosity of the lubricating film under load. A VR6 engine comes standard with only an oil-water heat exchanger, which quickly reaches its capacity limit when performance is increased.

• Easy integration: Our kit is connected via a specially CNC-machined adapter bolt. This enables direct, space-saving installation on the original VR6 oil filter housing.

• Tip for making the right choice: For VW models manufactured before 1996, the OEM metal cover (which is bolted on) must also be purchased.

• Control variants for thermal management:

  • With thermostat: Flow to the external cooling element is only activated once the operating temperature reaches approximately 70 °C. This ensures a short warm-up phase for the engine during partial-load operation and stabilizes the oil temperature within the optimal target range.

  • Without a thermostat: Continuous flow through the radiator. This version is primarily designed for motorsports and drag racing applications, where maximum cooling performance is required immediately upon engine start-up.
